Driving lessons BedfordThis must be passed before you can book your practical test.

The theory test is in two parts (taken at the same time) a multiple choice and a hazard perception test. If you pass one but fail the other you will fail the whole test and you will need to take both parts again.

To prepare for your theory test you should study various books, this will help you gain the best knowledge to enable you to pass your theory test and also give you full knowledge of all aspects of safe driving.

There is also a DVD, Driving Test Success, available from Focus Multimedia Ltd and this is a comprehensive learner driver pack that covers all aspects of both the theory and practical test.

You can also take an official practice theory test online. The hazard perception test will begin after a few minutes break from the theory part. You will be shown a tutorial video first which will explain how to complete this part of the test.

The test itself consists of 14 video clips, each lasting about one minute. The clips feature various types of hazards involving vehicles, pedestrians and road conditions. As soon as you see a hazard developing you respond by clicking a mouse button. The earlier the developing hazard is spotted and, the response is made, the higher the score. You can score up to 5 marks for each hazard and the pass mark is 44 out of 75 for car drivers and motorcycle riders.
